# Panoptick

> Panoptick is a website monitoring platform: uptime, SSL and domain checks, plus Real User Experience Monitoring (RUX), which opens a page in a real browser on a real device profile over a consumer internet connection and records what actually rendered.

Panoptick is operated by Suprematic Technologies Lda in Ericeira, Portugal. It answers two questions a status page cannot: is the site reachable, and is the page a visitor opened actually usable on their device, on their network, in their country.

Uptime monitoring covers availability, response time, DNS lookup time, SSL certificate validity and domain expiry. RUX adds browser-based checks: a full page load on an emulated device profile from a residential connection, recorded frame by frame.

Key facts:

- The free tier includes 10 monitors at a 5-minute check interval and needs no credit card. Paid plans check as often as every 30 seconds.
- Alerts are delivered by email, SMS, Slack, Telegram and webhooks.
- Monitoring history is retained for up to one year.
- Uptime checks run from several geographic locations. RUX checks run from consumer ISP connections in the countries the customer selects, not from datacenter networks.
- RUX needs no JavaScript snippet, no SDK and no deploy. A monitor is a URL plus the devices, countries and frequency to check it from.
- RUX device profiles are mid-range Android, flagship iPhone, tablet, laptop and wide desktop.
- RUX records frame-by-frame screenshots, per-block load timing, Core Web Vitals and the full request waterfall, and alerts on deviation from a baseline learned per monitor rather than on a fixed threshold.
- RUX runs one session per monitor per day on the free tier, and every six hours, hourly or every fifteen minutes on paid plans. Every plan can trigger a session by hand or from a deploy pipeline.
- Our checking bot declares itself in every request with the token Panoptick and a link to its policy. It never logs in, submits forms, adds items to a cart or creates an order, and it blocks advertising network scripts, so it cannot generate an ad impression or click.
